How Does Chinglish Affect the Language Culture of Hong Kong?
In the past, people only spoke and wrote in proper Chinese. But because of the increasing demand of English in our everyday lives, people began to speak English. Since the English education in Hong Kong isn't the best, people started to mix Chinese and English together and this formed the language of Chinglish in Hong Kong.
Chinglish affects the language culture of Hong Kong because it relates to us as most of Hong Kong people speak both Chinese and English. Also, most of us, if not all, will encounter a life-situation where we will have to use English to communicate. Since not all of us can speak fluent English, everyone will subconsciously mix Chinese and English together.
